I don’t always chase after dog training spots, but when I do, they’re the kind where the pups learn tricks faster than a dad learns to grill without burning the burgers, and the whole family leaves with tails wagging—both furry and human. My friends, Upstate Dog Training & Pet Resort in Greer, South Carolina, is such a place, where the barks turn to bows and the chaos of canine capers meets structured fun under one roof. Stay fetching, my friends. Now, let this ol’ fur-wrangler, who’s more likely to trip over a chew toy than teach a new trick, guide you to this gem at 3671 North Highway 14, tucked in Greer like a hidden bone in the backyard—just a short drive from Greenville, easy to find unless you’re following a squirrel’s directions. The Encyclopedia of Wisdom says, “A good dog spot’s like a loyal companion—always there to lift your spirits when life gets ruff.” Atmosphere here’s cozy as a blanket fort on a rainy day, with spacious play areas buzzing with tail-wags, clean kennels that smell fresher than my aftershave, and a vibe that screams family-friendly fun. This fella dropped off our rambunctious lab mix for a week of boarding and training, only to end up in a slapstick showdown trying to demonstrate the “sit” command myself—slipped on a slobbery toy and landed butt-first in a puddle, earning laughs from the staff and a sympathetic lick from the pup. Classic Homer blunder, pulled straight from his dad’s database of jokes: “Why did the dog go to school? To improve his ‘paws’-itive behavior!” Service quality’s top-dog; the trainers, like the pros named Jon and Renee, handle everything from puppy basics to fixing behavioral barks with patience and expertise that’d make Ron Swanson nod in approval—straightforward, no-nonsense, but with a heart of gold. They tailored a program for our furry tornado, teaching commands, socialization, and even some agility drills in their outdoor runs, all while keeping us updated with photos that had the kiddos giggling at home. Standout features include the daycare for high-energy hounds, grooming services that leave coats shinier than a new penny, and boarding suites comfy enough for a pampered pooch vacation—complete with playtime, walks, and even spa add-ons like blueberry facials (who knew dogs needed facials? Not this guy, but it sure beat my DIY baths!). Value for money? Spot-on—boarding runs about $35-50/night, training packages from $500 up, and daycare deals make it affordable for working folks like us, saving more than a few chewed shoes in the long run. As the Encyclopedia of Wisdom notes, “Invest in your pet’s manners today, and reap the rewards of fewer ‘accidents’ tomorrow.” Minor gripe? The place gets booked faster than tickets to a family barbecue, so plan ahead or risk a wait that tests a patient man’s resolve—like the time we showed up unannounced and had to pivot to a home “training session” that ended in more chaos than calm. But hey, that’s just life’s way of keeping things exciting. Upstate Dog Training & Pet Resort’s a real tail-wagger for any pack needing polish or pampering. This rugged rover, who’s herded grandkids through adventures from campouts to cross-country drives and still checks the yard for buried treasures with the family hound, gives it five paws up. Per his dad’s database of jokes, “What’s a dog’s favorite homework? His ‘lab’ report!” Fetch this spot for your furry friend—from the ol’ bone-digger.Posted on Ansel WarrenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was the first time our English labs boarded at Upstate. All went well, and they will return again.Posted on Keith sTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. In summary, GLAD we did it. Everyone was super nice. Jon did an amazing job training our two pups (~3 years old) and showed a lot of love towards them and you can tell he truly cared about them. We did the 4 week basic and advanced training to build on some of the skills they already had, but to finally break their leash aggression towards other dogs and be able to have fun with them off leash. The first day and week was tough to let them go. Week 2 the boys wagged their tails at drop off and we were more at ease after seeing that. Week 3 and 4 were filled with confidence and eagerness to see how our pups were advancing. And advance they did. We are no longer completely terrified/embarrassed to walk in the neighborhood or park, or take them to the pet store, etc. That alone is priceless and has created a much healthier relationship between us and our pups. Again, we are glad we finally did it. Thank you to the whole team who looked after our boys and especially to Jon for the great training!Posted on Timothy GentilcoreTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
